Today we are going to paint this fantastic highland scene.
This is a painting that I originally painted many years ago but it has remained a firm favourite of mine over the years for a number of reasons the most important one being the range of technique I employed to get the result I wanted.
This was definitely one of the very first paintings I done where I started to experience the freedom that you get when you finally stop paying attention to all the purists that are constantly telling you that you're doing things wrong and start paying attention to the getting the results you want by any means necessary!
And that my friend is exactly what I want you to experience so what better way to do that than to try and recreate the experience together!
On the surface it appears that this scene contains a lot of detail but as you will see when we get started in any good painting detail is invented by the viewer not painted by the artist!
This workshop will arm you with a number of fantastic techniques to help you get texture into your watercolour paintings. Why? Well very simply a painting with no texture = a boring painting! And you don't ever want to be accused of producing boring paintings do you?
Below is a list of the materials I used to produce this workshop painting. Please note I am not suggesting you go out and buy all this but it may be helpful as a guide when you are sorting out your materials and getting ready to paint.
